Facebook Posts regarding Animal Cruelty

07/17/2018

On 7/16/18 at approximately 14:00 hours, the Mayes County Sheriff's Office began receiving phone calls in reference to a Facebook post about a person shooting a foster dog after the dog was chasing and killing his chickens.

MCSO dispatch stated that the phone calls were from people that observed the Facebook post and not from anyone directly involved such as the foster family, the rescue agency or the alleged shooter of the dog.

At approximately 19;46 hours, after receiving additional calls, as well as threats on Facebook towards the alleged shooter and family, a Deputy was dispatched to the alleged shooter's residence to make him aware of the threats observed on Facebook.

The alleged shooter advised the Deputy that he did not fear for his life and that he did not want to file a formal complaint on the parties making the threats at that time.

In regards to Oklahoma State Statute, Title 4, Chapter 3, Section 41, the Mayes County Sheriff's Office does not have any reason to believe that any crime has been committed, at this time.
